Marie does a wonderful job writing a believable May/December romance. I loved Kate and Reid together this time around. As their story unfolds you can really feel that they belonged together, and that age is just a number. The heart loves who it loves. I think Marie got me, because Kate and Reid knew that anytime they had together was better than being apart. I melted and knew these two found their other half.
This book was truly about coming home. Kate comes home to the love and family she had been missing for the last ten years.

Thank you to all the readers who asked me to finish Reid and Kate's story. Back in 2005 when I wrote Marking Time, it never occurred to me that readers would want them to end up together. Boy, was I wrong about that! I've never gotten more mail about any story than I did about theirs. I hope you're pleased with their second act.
Returning to the Treading Water/Marking Time world was like spending time with precious old friends. Most of you know that Jack Harrington was my very first fictional character, so it was a great thrill for me to bring him back in Coming Home. I enjoyed the themes of forgiveness and redemption in this book, as well as the growth the characters experienced in the decade between Marking Time and Coming Home.

Magic...part 2! A fitting end to a great love story!

I'm a Marie Force fan. I discovered her by happy accident when I downloaded "Love at first flight" February 2011 and fell in love with Michael and Juliana. Since then, I've read every single one of her books and loved every single story. Marie Force is one of those rare authors who truly appreciates her fans and listens to her readers when they want more. That's why "Coming Home" was so eagerly anticipated for me. This is the closure story I was waiting for...Reid and Kate's story.
It's a stand alone book, but to me it wasn't because Kate and Reid's story began in "Marking Time". In that book, they were not the main characters, but Marie has such a way of writing her characters that all the stories within one book become important and so meaningful. Hence, Reid and Kate.
Reid is 28 years older than Kate. Yes, big gap, but age is just a number. You love who you love.This may turn off some readers, but for me, age was never an issue. Their relationship ended in "Marking Time" but they needed closure. They were truly magic for me. I kept thinking, "This can't be the end!" I was one of those shameless fans who needed closure. Their own book! There were so many people who disapproved of their relationship in "Marking Time" and despite Reid and Kate's love and passion for each other, how could they overcome that? Where's their happily ever after? I needed to know!
Well, in "Coming Home", I got my much needed closure. ***spoilers*** what I loved about this book is that when they finally see each other after 10 years, if felt right. She was older, she lived life, she matured. She knew she wanted Reid and never stopped loving him. When she finds him in St Kitts (fitting, since when they broke up 10 years before, he had retreated to that island and stayed) and once she finds him at the beach...it's like they were never apart. Sure, he moved on and was in a relationship with another woman. I got that, he was lonely but Kate was the only woman for him. I loved that after their first encounter whatever conflicts they encounter, they face it together. No secrets, which is what broke them up 10 years ago. I loved that, sometimes conflicts irritate me in stories because they can get so silly. Happily, it's not the case here. Kate realizes why he lied to her before and she owns up to her immature reaction. It's why she ended the relationship so long ago. Not now, she knows what she wants, and he wants her.
The setting of the ending was beautiful, romantic, and so right. Perfect. There is another story within "Coming Home" which is Jill's, Kate's sister. That was beautiful too because it involved Reid's son, Ashton. I couldn't have read a better ending for Kate and Reid. I waited a year for their rest of the story and I'm so happy Marie wrote it. She listened to her fans!
I would encourage readers to get the entire Treading Water series, Coming Home is book 4. And each once is truly wonderful. You won't be disappointed.
Now, I'd love to read about Maggie!

Love, Love, Love Marie Force

I discovered Marie Force quite a while ago when she was an indie author with only a few books out there. I immediately demolished every book she had out. I love her books. The story, the emotion, the background of the stories are wonderful. She has now become a much bigger Indie author and in some ways I feel like everyone has found out about my little wonderful secret. I am so happy for her and the fact that so many people have discovered Marie's incredible writing and stories. This is the forth in a series that the author states she tried to market to many publishers years ago but had no success. The first three books were released last year as an independent author e-book publication. I know that there are publishers who are kicking themselves now...as I am sure Marie is smiling everyday at their incredibly poor decision to not publish the first three books. This book continues the story of a the daughter of the original hero from the first book who has fallen in love with his friend who is over 25 years older then her. I am sure that when Marie wrote this she never thought people would love this couple but we all did and demanded their story. Marie, as usual, did not disappoint! Thank You Marie Force for many wonderful hours of reading enjoyment.

Plot ok, but way too many pages of nothing but sexual encounters

I loved the first books in this series, and I think this author writes well. However, in this book, although we all wanted to see the couple get back together and "live happily ever after," the entire book was filled with just one sex scene after another, first with the main couple and then with another family member. The scenes in most cases went on and on for 6 - 10 pages on my Kindle and could have been shortened. There was a storyline, and it was good, however I think the author had a specific number of pages to fill and so she filled them with nothing but bedroom (and other places) scenes. I hope to read more by Ms. Force, but hope the other books leave out so much sex -- I'm not a prude but did get tired of the descriptive scenes going on and on and I skipped a lot because they got tiring.
