Nathaniel Philbrick, a leading authority on the history of Nantucket, is director of the Egan Institute of Maritime Studies and a research fellow at the Nantucket Historical Association. His other books include Away Off Shore: Nantucket Island and its people, 1602-1890, and Abram's Eyes: the Native American Legacy of Nantucket Island. A champion sailboat racer, he lives in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

i loved this book, nat philbbrick is one of the best nantucket authors. most of nathaniels books are historical about the island, but this one focuses on nat himself. very well written!

All sailors will enjoy this book!

This is a great story of Nathaniel Philbrick's mid-life crisis as he goes back to the sunfish racing world to get back in touch with the youthful sailor he was. It has great sailing anecdotes, as well as warm, human stories about facing life and being an adult. I often think of this book and I recommend it to everyone who has loves to sail, as well as non-sailors who love water and boats. His self-deprecating humor always makes me laugh. I especially remember situations where things got out of control for Nat - as when sailing through a cut he suddenly ends up zooming out to the open sea, in a Sunfish. He captures that feeling of both exhilaration and fear that sailors know. This is not like the history books He is famous for, instead it's memoir that happens to involve boats.

Read the warning then read this book

The 3 books in this set occur simultaneously and it's a unique perspective into the lives of these characters that interwine. I loved it! This was the first one I read, then I had to purchase the other 2 immediately to get the whole story, it is that good. If you read the warning, like I said, you will know what you are in for. Marley gets involved with 2 guys who she hasn't seen in many years, but they were best friends as children. They have chemistry like you wouldn't believe! Sure to become another holiday favorite.

"Marley in Chains" by R.G. Alexander is the poignantly erotic tale of Marley Knight-Williams, a woman who lives weighted down by her feelings of guilt. She has returned to the area that she fled from so long ago but fears to reconnect with the two males who she felt such a deep connection with so long ago. They have been through their own trials in life and are ready to reclaim the skittish woman who completes their triad, they just have to convince her to follow her heart...by using whatever means necessary.

This delightful seasonal and emotional novella is a fantastic addition to an imaginative treatment of a seasonal classic presented by three talented authors. The depth of connection between the characters is heartwarming even as the sensual encounters that the guys engineer practically melt the pages. It is intriguing to view the events from the spicy "Getting Scrooged" (by Eden Bradley) from a different viewpoint and fun to compare notes between this tale and subsequent events in "Not So Tiny Tim" (by Robin L. Rotham). A fun read to warm up a cold winter night, I can only hope that this author continues to pen more tales about these charismatic people.

My hearts still all a flutter!

Just finished Marley in Chains and want to read it again. Best early Christmas present I ever bought myself. Hard and heartbroken, the heroes Michael and Carlos, reconnect with their long-lost high school sweetheart, Marley. R.G. Alexander gets you emotionally invested in her characters from the get-go. I promise, you'll fall in love with the heroes and wish you were Marley. Sexy as hell, the seriously hot sex scenes are great, but they aren't my favorite part of this story. It's the romance!!!

Buy this and the rest of the Smutketeers Kinky Christmas Carol...be a good girl, but read something naughty this Christmas!

I initially heard of "The Luck Habit" by Douglas Miller from a UK magazine issue called Spirit & Destiny. I already consider myself lucky, but I admit that there is still so much for me to learn in life when it comes to making the best out of the blessings and opportunities abundantly available. For me this book contains some insights on taking the existing good luck further. The sections on what propels luck and spotting opportunities are some of the helpful sections included in this book.
