Wendy May Andrews has been reading whatever she could get her hands on since the age of five. She has been writing for almost as long; although Tempting the Earl is the first story she has been willing to share with anyone other than her mother. 4.5 Stars Well-Written, Entertaining Regency
By E&M
Set in during the Regency period, Emily masquerades as a servant to Lord Philip, the current Earl.
He is intriuged by his new servant who is knowledgeable and can speak French.

The author kept me interested, I couldn't put the book down until I found the secret Emily was hiding.

I just wished the author would have included more dialogue between Lord Philip and Emily instead of just mentioning that "they agreed on many subjects" or had several debates when they disagreed. 4.5 Stars

Clean romance, well written and intriguing.
Would definitely read other books from this new author!

An Intriguing Maze for the Heart
By Ann B. Keller
Lord Philip, the eighth Earl of Yorkleigh, was astonished when he found a beautiful, but bedraggled young woman in the boot of his carriage! Emily's clothes were dirty and tattered, but there was no denying that she was quite lovely and seemed in desperate straits. Gallantly, Philip offered to assist her.

Emily was on the run and quickly accepted the earl's offer of employment, becoming a maid in his own household. She was safe at last and quite at peace in Lord Philip's garden or organizing the many books in his well appointed study.

To Philip, however, Emily was a puzzling contradiction. Although she professed to be nothing more than a lady's maid, she sang in French and could hold her own in a heated philosophical debate. Worse still, the earl was very attracted to Emily. Holding his emotions in check was becoming a growing issue, one he would definitely have to address once he located a missing marchioness for the king.

The reader is treated to a maze of delicious clues leading to only one conclusion. Young Emily is much more than she appears to be and perhaps, with Philip's help, the case of the missing marchioness may yet have a happy ending. Ms. Andrews has a marvelous writing style and I thoroughly enjoyed the tantalizing plot twists. Nicely done!

Tempting the Earl -- Or, Dumb As A Box of Rocks, All of Them
By I. Zawilski
Oh, where to begin? I admit I couldn't put it down, but I was skimming from the midpoint on. These people were all too stupid to live -- all of them, villains and heroes alike. Not that the villains had much to do here. They were so inept they couldn't even find their escaped-from-the-madhouse heiress, much less muster up a good kidnaping.

So Emily, fleeing from villainous relatives who "disappeared" her into the madhouse for the purpose of stealing her inheritance, hides in the Earl's carriage. He takes her home and employs her as first a combination maid-librarian (!) and then a companion to his mother. He notices that she is very literate for a servant class person and can read Greek well enough to discuss classic books. She even slips and mentions the "nurse" she had growing up. There are all kind of hints that Emily has never been a servant. But the Earl remains clueless, even after he is called to London and is given an assignment by the king to investigate the relatives of a missing peeress, to find out what happened to her. A missing peeress! Gosh, do you think that the mysteriously educated maid-librarian-companion who turned up out of nowhere could be the missing peeress!!!? Well YOU might but he STILL doesn't figure it out, until....well I won't give away the whole plot. Emily doesn't have the sense God gave a goose either, since she does not confide in either the Earl or his mother, despite the fact that they are so saintly they make your teeth ache.

If you are tired of Regency romances with madcap adventures, evil plots and heart-wrenching misunderstandings, this is your book! None of that happens here; in fact, nothing much happens at all, and it all plods along to the inevitable ending.
