The best erotic fiction out there
By Liyonala
One of the best erotic fictions I have ever read, where the characters have been developed in a such a way to keep the readers attention through out the story. The journalist Alan Hunt's character is acting as the key role here keeping the reader stick to the story. The plot is maintained fantastically without going to the extreme ends of passion and sex. The most outstanding trick in this kindle is that Lucia keeps me turned on till the end of the kindle. Highly recommend this for the erotica lovers.

Liked it but
By elgato
First off I really enjoyed the writing style. I was drawn in right away. There were so many emotions going on with this book that when the ending came I was completely disappointed. It was all about revenge and payback. Alan hurt Lucy so much and was so cruel to her. But then all of a sudden it was like oh I love you. All that build up and then nothing. I was hoping for some more drama, some begging, some I'm sorry, anything. But nope nada. It really could have used at the very least one more chapter. But the bonus story was a nice sexy touch.

Nothing special

The storyline was alright, but I've read it many times. I thought it needed more spice and a little more imagination.

"There is something about them [Ashley's books] that I find crackalicious."

About the Author
Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake.

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Tabby and Shy - some spoilers
By P. Thompson
This could have been great. But frankly, the fact that Shy had the OW totally ruined this book for me. Through a series of events, Shy and Tabby finally start to spend time together after a number of years have gone by. If you've read Motorcycle Man then you know Tab had a crush on Shy when she was 16-17, but Shy nails every woman he sees apparently, while thinking that Tab is out of bounds. Now, about 6 or so years later, they start talking and hanging out together. Now here's the part that ruined it for me. It turns out that one month after they start hanging out, he starts hooking up with the OW. So while Tabby thinks they are starting to build something, he is out smexing this OW. And I repeat, ONE MONTH after he basically reunites with Tabby. Now of course he says he didn't think she'd ever go there with him. But he can't go without smex for longer than a month, apparently. So after several months Tabby finally gets it together and figures out that she wants Shy, and when he asks her how long she needs to get her head together, she says two hours. He goes back to his apartment and scrapes off the OW. When Tabby comes over after the two hours, they have smex. Maybe it's just me, but that really disgusted me. As usual in this trope, the OW was just a placeholder.

The rest of the storyline was OK, nothing to write home about though. Because we are talking about the Chaos MC then there are issues with drugs and such. There are also issues with Tabby's father, Tack, who is Prez of the MC. Shy of course has brought all of the relationship problems on himself because of his man-ho activities, and the MC members all know about the OW too. So once again, the inability of a supposed H to keep it In his pants causes lots of problems.

As I said, this could have been great. But adding in the OW ruined it. This could have been much better if he started demonstrating how he could prove his love and devotion by actually waiting for Tab. Now THAT would have shown that he really wanted to change. And improved the storyline...

Tabby/Shy Not What I Expected But Still a Great Story
By Robin Snyder
3.5 I Dreamed a Dream Stars

Have you read Motorcycle Man? If the answer is no…STOP now. Do not pass go, do not collect two-hundred dollars because even though this says Chaos #1 I think your enjoyment will be dramatically reduced without that foundation. At least for me Shy would have had an unsurmountable deficit to overcome if I hadn’t spent time in the Chaos compound and had a little history going into this.

Shy

Let’s say that Shy IS a D. O. double Gee. He apparently takes women whose names he can’t remember to bed, often more than one at a time and when we first get a glimpse of him here he is asleep under a few Chaos hoochies when he gets called out to go reel in Tabby and get her home. Shy thinks maybe she needs a lesson one only he can teach her.

****Hopefully, in about two seconds, she’d be a lot more than kinda freaked out. She’d be scared straight and out of this bullcrap she kept pulling. Therefore, two seconds later, he yanked her into his room, tugged her to a stop and flipped the light switch. The two women were still naked, lying head to foot on the bed, having, since he was gone, tangled with each other. Briefly, he tried to remember their names.***

You think he’d stop there but nope….

***“But you… you made assumptions. You showed you decided exactly the kind of girl I was that night when that guy took his hand to me without knowing one single thing about me. I wasn’t what you thought, Shy. I didn’t need your crap and I also didn’t deserve it. Family doesn’t make judgments. They talk. They support. You made a judgment. You acted on that judgment. You doing it hurt me so that means you are not my family.”***

And even after he has seen some stuff and realized that he has never felt anything for anyone like Tabby felt for the man she lost when he gets her call late at night for some help…

***“Get her butt up. Both of you need to get dressed and get gone.” He reached into the nightstand and grabbed his gun, shoving it into the back waistband of his jeans and pulling his tee over it. “You got fifteen minutes to get out. You’re not gone by the time I get back, I will not be happy.”
“Sure thing, babe,”***

Who are these hoochies that are happy to have threesomes with a guy that throws them out right after???

And at this point I’m thinking Shy you are a complete douchecanoe and I’m not sure I’m ever going to like you. It is a pretty big hole even for KA to dig an alpha out of. But she did it!!!

Thank goodness that most of the OTT jerkface things happen in the first 15% but still I’m not one to be gung ho for a leading man that can’t even remember the names of the women he is sleeping with still what it comes down to is that KA makes me believe that Shy was miserable in the life he had before Tabby and she was his wake up call he just never thought he’d deserve her.

Tabby

Tack’s only little girl grew up a Chaos princess. She has been around the hard life of the brothers for most of her life and she knows what happens with some of the brotherhood. She fell in love with a man outside that life and was ready to give him everything until a tragedy stuck and she lost her man and her dream. Shy was there for her in a way no one else could be and he brought her back from that depression and the hole that was left in her heart.

However when she falls for Shy, the notorious hound dog, it leads to one of the best Adult to Child coming of age blow-outs I’ve ever read. Tack and Tyra are an alpha couple all the way so it took some doing for Tabby to show them she isn’t a little girl anymore and I LOVED the entire thing. Seriously this book was worth reading just for that conversation between Tabby and Tyra and then Tabby and Tack. She is a strong woman who will not be told who she can or can’t fall in love with and I totally love that about her.

***“You know you’re Dad’s one-and-only, Tyra, and if you don’t know this, seeing as he had kids before he met you, I’m sorry to tell you but even though you’re his one-and-only now, you weren’t his one-and-only.”
Her head jerked, she flinched, and I finally saw it. Understanding.
“You feel me,” I said softy. “I get I’m not Shy’s one-and-only but I still… freaking… am.”***

Go Tabby you stand up for your man.

Shy and Tabby

This is really more of a love story than most of KA’s books. There is some building tension with a new player in the drug game that is trying to get into Chaos territory and some trouble with one of Tabby’s no good friends from high school but for the most part this is just a story about Tabby and Shy finding their way to one another and learning how to accept the other for who they are.

The biggest confrontation is when Tabby and Shy are found out and there are repercussions with the members of Chaos. Shy did some stuff in this that totally redeemed him with me.

❶ - He apologized for some of the things he said to Tabby when she was younger and for treating her like he did when he judged her and thought he was helping.

❷ - Shy totally stood up for Tabby and even though some of the boys think it is cool to boss their old ladies around, Shy doesn’t play like that.

***“Tab and I don’t play it that way. You wanna order your old lady around, do what you do, not for me to say. I asked her to go, she didn’t go. Not gonna make her. But you try, you’ll deal with me.”***

❸ - Once Shy decided on Tab he was all in, all the way and never looked back.

***“Waited for you for four years, Tabby, baby. Four. Spent a lot of that time thinkin’ I’d never have you. Now I got you, not even for a day, I’m not big on lettin’ you go. Give me that for now, yeah? Make your calls here.”***

❹ - Even though I want to be “no I can take care of myself” I love the way that Shy tries to look out for Tabby and take care of her and her problems, even if it isn’t exactly the way she would want him too.

Overall

I like being in the biker world. It is a fun place to visit and although it is a harder life than I’d like in the real world in my fantasy world it totally works for me.

Brilliant as expected
By Bette Hansen
Brilliant as expected!! Adore Shy who is anything but shy! He tackles thing head on, no pretense no games. A little in your face but you always know where you stand. And he loves HARD and it's clear he loves Tabby. Tabby's the clubs president's daughter and should be hands off but some things are worth risking everything for! Great mixed of hardcore MC and super sizzling romance. Book 2 here I come! I definitely recommend this one.

Disappointment.
By Jamie
I picked up this book on my Kindle's Lending Library because of the great ratings and because I love 'coming-of-age' tales. The description seemed okay, but the reviews were all so positive I figured this must be another hidden gem on amazon that are always lovely to stumble across. It's one of the main reasons I love that Amazon allows authors to publish directly to the website, and have such programs as the lending library.

The beginning struck me as very 'Harry Potter-esque.' Normally, this isn't a bad thing. I love Harry Potter and what it's done to the literary world, but when the first several character developing chapters of Harry Potter are condensed to one paragraph that could be likened to a 'Sorting,' it leaves the reader wanting. I continued to press on, hoping it was just a slow start, but over and over again I kept being distracted by the poor writing style and lack of character development. The "descriptions" in the story, if you want to define it as such, are very elementary. A lot of "telling us" instead of taking the time to show us with words. Combine that with the run on sentences and poor structure overall, and the result is not pleasant.

I feel that instead of a full-fledged novel (or series, if that's what this turns out to be), it would be more welcome as some form of fan-fiction. There are no dynamics here. The character doesn't struggle. 'It took me two months to master such and such spell.' Or after we are introduced to the main character Alex when he finds out he's a dragon knight, such dialogue as "That makes you either highly perceptive to your surroundings or quite possibly a Dragon Knight." 'Everyone in the entire hall gasped in unison as the dragon suggested I could be a Dragon Knight.'

All in all, a disappointment. I feel like with some proper editing, and a few re-writes, the product could have the potential to be good, but I myself am glad I didn't have to spend any money on this.

Need an editor
By Amazon Customer
This author needs a good editor. It's got a decent idea, and might be fun. But the constant spelling mistakes, and use of distracting phrases kills the writing flow.

In addition:
Characters appear and make grandiose statements, then disappear with "other important things to attend to".
The main schoolyard drama between the main character and his antagonists develops over 3 encounters from "I just met you and you're annoying" to "I'm now going to destroy you". 3 encounters does not constitute plot development.
Whenever a supporting character tells your main character he's "almost like a god", you may be...no, you ARE going a bit overboard as an author.
After reading the entire book (expecting it to somehow get better) I'm still not sure what the rules for magic are, or how "Vorms" work at all.

Seems like a first effort; needs cleaning up.

Good story just needs some refinement.
By C.Thomas
I liked this story quite a bit. I was able to read it in one day so it kept my interest well. I gave it a three star because I thought the story could use some more depth. The characters seemed like they weren't as compelling as they could have been. There were also quite a few grammatical errors. All in all I am happy with the book and will read the next one just to see how the story unfolds. Not bad for an 18 year old.

Cassidy Lambert traded in Montana's big sky country for the big-city lights—forever. Until a potentially devastating equine illness threatens her family's ranch, and Cassidy is needed at home to help. She thinks she knows what she wants from life, but the more she's around sexy veterinarian Dan Farley, the more confused she gets.

When Cassidy comes back to the open Western landscape Dan loves, she's nothing but a beautiful burr under his saddle. She stomped on his heart once before, and he's not eager for another go-around. But he just can't keep himself away from those green eyes and sweet curves. It's a good thing she'll soon be gone again. Because he can't trust her—or himself—when she's around!

What did it say about her relationship with her family that the person Cassidy Lambert was most excited to see when she got home wasn't a person at all, but her border collie, Sky?

Sky had been her father's birthday surprise for her fourteen years ago. Sky was loyal, loving and, most important, uncomplicated. Cassidy knew, no matter what, that Sky would always love her and think she was the most wonderful person on the planet.

The same could not be said of her family.

Cassidy lowered the driver's side window of her vintage 1980 Ford pickup to let in the warm spring air, then cranked up the tunes as she barreled along the 80 toward home. She knew she should reduce her speed, not only to avoid a ticket but also to prolong the drive, which she was quite enjoying.

But she was on a high. After five long years she was finally done with late nights at the library, relentless assignments and tough exams. She'd worked hard to complete the Accounting Master's Program at Montana State University, but she'd done it, and hopefully soon would follow a high-paying job at one of the top accounting firms in Billings.

Josh Brown—her friend and would-be boyfriend if she could make up her mind about that—also had plans to move to Billings. Josh had wanted to come with her to Coffee Creek Ranch. He said it was time he met her family.

"I wouldn't be so anxious if I were you," she'd told him. He thought she was teasing, but she wasn't.

"They can't be that bad. Look at you. Unless you were adopted?"

"No such luck." She had her mother's delicate features and the long, lanky body that came from the Lambert side of the family. She had a soft heart—like her father. But was also headstrong and stubborn—like her mom.

Yet despite all the family resemblances, she'd always been a misfit. Part of the problem came from being the only girl in a family with three boys—four if you counted her foster brother, Jackson, who'd been with the family since she was nine. She knew it wasn't her imagination that her mother was harder on her than the guys. And her father had treated her differently, too, when he was alive.

For one thing, he'd built three cottages by the small lake on their property for each of his sons to live in. But nothing for her.

No doubt he'd expected her to one day get married and go live with her husband. But being excluded that way had hurt.

And it still did.

The boys had been relentless teases, too. They didn't mean to be cruel, but they never cut her a break, either. Even though she could ride as well as any of them, she couldn't match them in strength. And, oh, how they'd loved to taunt her about that. Especially Brock…

Tears fogged her vision, and she slid her sunglasses up on her head so she could rub them away. Though almost a year had passed since the accident that had taken her youngest brother's life—just an hour before he'd been about to marry Winnie Hayes—the loss still felt fresh.

Brock may have driven her crazy, but she'd loved him, living in hope that one day he'd stop treating her like a bratty little sister and they might become friends.

Now they would never have that chance.

Cassidy drove over a series of three gentle hills before arriving at the smattering of buildings and the weathered sign proclaiming that she'd arrived at the town of Coffee Creek. She put on her indicator light, intending to stop at the Cinnamon Stick Cafe for some fortification before continuing the last fifteen minutes to the ranch.

It was Wednesday morning, the last week of April, an hour before noon. She'd written her final exam the previous afternoon, had spent a night on the town with all her friends, including Josh, then loaded her car for an early departure that hadn't included breakfast.

So she was hungry.

She angle-parked in front of the pretty cafe that was owned by Brock's former fiancée. Winnie had taken Brock's death really hard and had gone to live at her parents' farm in Highwood immediately following the funeral. Cassidy stayed in touch with her via Facebook and knew that Winnie hoped to return to Coffee Creek eventually. Apparently she'd developed some health issues that weren't serious, but required some time to settle.

In the meantime her cafe was being operated by Winnie's best friend—and Cassidy's new sister-in-law— Laurel. Laurel Sheridan had flown in from New York for Brock and Winnie's wedding and had ended up extending her stay to take care of Winnie's cafe while her friend was convalescing. She'd also fallen in love with Corb and the two had been married last September in New York City.

Then in March they'd had a baby—adorable little Stephanie Olive Lambert was another reason Cassidy was stopping at the Cinnamon Stick. Hopefully Laurel and the baby would be there.

She was dying for a cuddle with her new little niece.

Cassidy parked, hopped out of her truck, then paused to stretch her back and her arms. One thing about older trucks—they sure weren't built for comfort. Still, she patted the hood affectionately before heading toward the cafe.

A hand-painted sign hung over the door, and two wooden benches promised a place to sit in the sun and enjoy your coffee once you'd placed your order.

Inside she was welcomed by the scent of freshly ground coffee beans and the luscious aromas of butter, sugar and cinnamon. She'd come during a lull and the place was quiet. Two older women sat at one of the two booths, engrossed in conversation. Behind the counter, Laurel was softly singing a silly song about hedgehogs. She had her back to the door, busy with dishes, but she spotted Cassidy's reflection in a carefully positioned mirror and broke into a big smile.

"Cassidy! You're home!" Laurel stopped to scoop up her two-month-old daughter from the playpen. "Look who's here, Steph. It's your auntie Cassidy."

Cassidy was already holding out her arms for the bundle. "I hope she isn't making shy yet."

"Oh, she's still too young for that. Besides, she's getting used to new faces. We just got back to work last week and I swear our business has tripled. It seems everyone in the area is finding an excuse to drop in for a coffee and to say hello to the newest Lambert."

Cassidy listened to all of this with a smile, at the same time noticing how happy her sister-in-law appeared. Pretty, too. Her long red hair was pulled back in a ponytail, but it seemed thicker and glossier than ever. And her fair skin was literally glowing.

Laurel deposited a kiss on Cassidy's cheek as she handed over her daughter, who had gained several pounds since Cassidy had seen her last.

"Oh, you're so cute! Look—she has Corb's dimple."

"I know. Isn't it adorable? And only on the left cheek, just like her dad."

Cassidy sighed as Stephanie cuddled in, soaking up the smooches that her aunt couldn't resist planting on her downy soft head. Her wispy hair was coming in orange. And curly.

"How are you doing, precious? Do you like working with your mommy in the cafe?"

The baby looked up at the sound of Cassidy's voice, and Cassidy was amused to see that she had the Lambert green eyes, as well. Stephanie was staring at her intently, and only when she raised her little hand, awkwardly reaching up, did Cassidy realize she was entranced by the sunglasses that were still resting on her head.

"She's just started noticing her hands a few weeks ago," Laurel commented. "Sometimes she stares at them for minutes at a time. It's so cute. But here I am, talking endlessly about my wonderful baby, again." Laurel rolled her eyes. "What's new with you? How were your final exams?"

"They went well, I think. I won't have my marks for a few weeks."

"Can I get you a coffee and a cinnamon bun for the road?"

Hearing the door open behind her, Cassidy moved out of the way so the newcomer could enter. "You read my mind, thanks."

"Make that a double order, Winnie," said a deep voice behind her. "And leave some space for cream in the coffee."

Cassidy knew that voice. Slowly she turned, holding Stephanie like a shield between her and the tall, broad-shouldered man who'd just entered the cafe.

Sure enough, there stood Dan Farley. The local vet had some Native American blood, which accounted for his high cheekbones, jet-black hair and dark, almond-shaped eyes. Though he'd spoken to Winnie, it was Cas-sidy he was looking at, with cool dislike.

"Hey, Farley." Darn her voice for coming out so soft and weak. She lifted her chin. "How are things?"

"Busy."

He knew she'd been going to college in Bozeman, and must have noticed the suitcases and boxes in the back of her truck, but he didn't ask about her studies or show any interest in whether or not she was moving back to Coffee Creek. Stepping past her as if she were nothing more than an inanimate obstacle, he made his way to the counter, where he pulled out his wallet.

Heck and darn, but the man had a way about him. Cassidy glanced at the two women at the back to see if they felt it, too. Sure enough they both had their eyes on Coffee Creek's sexy vet. One of them pretended to fan her face with her hand. The other laughed and winked at Cassidy.

Cassidy didn't wink back.

He wasn't that good-looking.

She gave him another glance, seeing only his profile and long, muscular build.

Okay, maybe he was that good-looking.

Still, he probably hated her and she had only herself to blame.

Winnie set two coffees in to-go cups on the counter, then bagged them each one of the homemade cinnamon buns baked fresh every day by ex-bronc rider Vince Butterfield. A veteran of the rodeo circuit and a member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame, Vince had licked a lifelong dependence on alcohol and in his sixties had begun a new career as a baker. His mother's old recipe for melt-in-your-mouth sticky buns, thickly topped with frosting, was his new claim to fame.

Five minutes ago, Cassidy had been craving one of them desperately. Now her stomach churned at the thought. What were the chances that she and Farley would happen into the cafe at the same time? Pretty darn slim. So slim, in fact, that she hadn't run across him here once in the past four years.

Other than at the church last July, she hadn't seen him anywhere else, either.

If he was called out to the ranch when she happened to be home, she always made herself scarce. She'd avoided him at the funeral. If his name came up in conversation with her brothers, she tried not to listen.

And now here he stood, just a few feet away. Making it very hard not to remember. But no. She would not think back to that night. She couldn't bear it.

"So where are you off to now, Farley?" Laurel asked, her tone friendly. Everyone in the Coffee Creek area called the vet by his last name. Probably to avoid confusion with his father, also named Dan, whom he'd worked with before the elder Farley and his wife had retired to Arizona.

Farley glanced briefly at Cassidy again, before answering. "Coffee Creek Ranch."

Though there were plenty of reasons why the vet might have been called out to her family's ranch, Cas-sidy's first thought was for Sky. At fourteen years of age, every day was a blessing. "What's wrong?"

"Your mother's young palomino is sick. Sounds serious."

"Lucky Lucy? Oh, no." She was glad Sky was okay, but this news was almost as bad. Her mother had bought the beautiful three-year-old palomino just this year and Cassidy loved her. Lucy had a wild heart but a gentle soul. Though she was her mother's horse, Cassidy had felt a special connection with the mare from the first time she'd ridden her.

"Any idea what the problem is?"

"From the symptoms Jackson described, sounds like strangles."

"Really?" In all of her twenty-five years they'd never had a case of strangles on the ranch. She didn't even know that much about it, other than it was a highly contagious, serious infection of the nose and lymph nodes.

"I'll have to examine the horse and run some tests to be sure." He added a generous amount of cream to his coffee, fitted the cup with a lid, then grabbed one of the bagged cinnamon buns. "See you later, Laurel. And thanks."

No word to Cassidy, whose ranch he was heading for.

She might as well be an empty bar stool for all the attention he'd paid to her. Wordless herself, she watched as a half-dozen long strides took him out the door.

The cafe fell silent then, and Cassidy realized that Laurel was looking at her, eyebrows raised.

"What's up with you and the vet?"

Cassidy shifted Stephanie to her other arm. She'd planned on staying for a while to visit, but the bad news about the ranch had her suddenly anxious to get moving again.

"Why do you ask?"

"Are you kidding? Sparks were flying here, and they weren't the good kind. Farley isn't the chattiest of people, but I've never seen him be downright rude before. And the way he all but ignored you? That was rude."

Yes. It sure had been.

"I guess he figures he has his reasons." Cassidy went around the counter to deliver Stephanie back to her playpen. She didn't seem very happy about being set down until her mother wound up a musical mobile that had been affixed to the side of the playpen.

"How do you get any work done with such a cute distraction around?" Cassidy bent to give her niece one last kiss.

"It's taken some adjusting, by me and the staff. Eugenia and Dawn have been great. And even Vince has taken a few turns at rocking Stephanie when she's being fussy."

"That I'd like to see." Vince was the epitome of the tough, silent cowboy from another era.

"I know. Isn't it amazing what babies bring out in a person?"

"It sure is." Though Farley hadn't seemed moved by the baby at all. Of course, if she hadn't happened to be there, he probably would have been much friendlier to Laurel and her daughter. "Is there anything I can do to help you before I leave?"

"We're fine," Laurel assured her. "Eugenia's shift is starting in about half an hour. That'll give me a chance to take Stephanie upstairs, feed her and put her down for her nap. She's a great sleeper, thank goodness. Gives me a couple free hours every afternoon."

"Sounds like a good system." Cassidy counted out money for her order, then picked up her drink and her pastry. Now that Farley was gone, her appetite was returning. "I'd better get going."

"Wait one minute. You're really not going to give me the scoop on you and Farley?"

"Nope." Cassidy gave Laurel a warm hug. "I'll be back to have a longer visit in a few days. Or I may drop in on you and Corb at the ranch one evening."

"I'll look forward to it. But be warned. Next time I see you, you better be ready to tell me what's going on with you and the vet. He's considered the most eligible bachelor in town, you know."

Cassidy wasn't surprised. The guy had presence. And those eyes…

"The single women of Coffee Creek needn't worry," she assured Laurel. "I'm not going to be any competition where Dan Farley is concerned."

She was out the door before Laurel had time for a comeback. Not that it mattered. She was so not going to tell Laurel about the history between her and Farley. She'd never told anyone and she'd bet Farley hadn't, either.

Her Cowboy Dilemma
By Suzy Snoozy
Read in February, 2013

Book 2 in the series Coffee Creek, Montana by C.J.Carmichael.This was another enjoyable read, especially being able to read it so close to the first book. Cassidy is the only girl and youngest of the Lambert family. She left home to get her accounting degree and away from her domineering, and manipulative mother. She has returned after graduation, awaiting for a second call back on job interview she had in school, that was in Billings. Looking forward to see her dog Sky, speaks of her family relationship. Always the tomboy, teased mercilessly by her brothers; yet following after them and neighbor Dan Farley. She felt left out by her dad, too, who built cabins on the lake for the boys, but not her. The loss of Brock, who she was closet to still stung, but she was an auntie to Corb's and Laurel's little girl, Stephanie. Her plan was to kick back til her call for the job came, but a medical emergency occurred on the ranch. Dan Farley was the vet, and it was uncomfortable between them because of a high school incidence.
Cassidy and Farley had many interactions, associated with the medical quarantine. Her own old horse became sick and they both worked to care for him. An episode where Sky, was attacked by coyotes, had Cassidy going to Farley's home/clinic. The relationship between them was one where one could not express their true feelings and the other was afraid of what their feelings were.
Maddie Turner, Olive's sister, their aunt was shunned by the family. She had been laying flowers at Brock's cross, where the accident occurred. Cassidy being curious why the shunning and underlying problems, found out where Sky came from and nothing else. The quarantine at her ranch was lifted and no call back for the job, but her college boyfriend Josh was working there.
Cassidy barrel-raced when younger, and had been working with her mother's horse. Lucy was the first horse to be sick, as it turned out, was because her mother took her to train for barrel racing at a ranch that had the illness. Her mother tried manipulating her to stay, which only pushed Cassidy further away. Cassidy and Farley distanced themselves, catching up at a farm where she teaching barrel-racing.Her call had come for the interview and job and move to Billings. In the meantime Winnie had Brock's son, and it was up to Olive to make peace and bring her and the grandchild to the ranch. Cassidy found the job and city living were suffocating and Farley realized he couldn't breathe without Cassidy.
The eldest B.J.Lambert's story is next. He left home at 18 to the rodeo, made a name for himself and only visits rarely.

Second chances
By S. Frank
Very good book. Cassidy has finally finished her schooling and is ready to get an accounting job in the city. When she comes home for a visit she ends up in the middle of an emergency with the horses and ends up taking care of them. This puts her in frequent contact with veterinarian Dan Farley. She had had a crush on him as a teenager, then did something stupid that made him angry. They've been adversaries ever since.

I really liked both Cassidy and Dan. Cassidy had had a crush on Dan when she was younger. He was best friends with her brothers and she spent a lot of time tagging after them. When she was twenty one he asked her out to a dance. While there she got scared of the intensity of her feelings for him and treated him badly. Since then he has been very cold to her whenever they met. When she arrives at the ranch she ends up having to deal with him as the vet for the sick horses. With four more years of maturity she is able to offer Dan the apology he deserves and they come to a truce. Once they did and spent some time together I could see how a much better relationship was developing. She is really enjoying her time back on the ranch, being with the animals again and enjoying the open spaces. I really loved seeing how happy she was being back on the ranch. But Cassidy is still determined to get a job in the city and away from her controlling mother. Olive is doing everything she can to push Cassidy and Dan together and to get Cassidy to stay on the ranch. She is so obvious about it that it embarrasses Cassidy and also makes her angry. Meanwhile Cassidy knows that her feelings for Dan are growing stronger but she refuses to consider a future for them that involves her staying in Coffee Creek. If it hadn't been for Olive's manipulative ways Cassidy probably would have made her decisions much sooner, but instead they caused Cassidy to dig in her heels. I did like the decisions she made at the end and how she was able to start standing up for herself.

Dan was a great guy. He was best friends with Cassidy's brothers and remembered her from when she was a little kid. When she was seventeen he suddenly realized that he didn't think of her as a sister anymore, but also that she was way too young for those feelings. He did his best to avoid her until he finally get the courage to ask her out when she was twenty one. He was crushed by her behavior that night and chalked it up to her being a spoiled brat. Now he has to deal with her again and all he can see to start with is her determination to get away from the ranch. He is still attracted to her which makes him angry because he doesn't want to fall for her again, thinking that she is still the selfish girl he remembered. But as they spend time together caring for the horses and then her dog, he sees that the caring woman is still there, just buried beneath the surface she shows to others. Dan had a great capacity for love that showed in the way he took care of the animals he treated and also in the way that he dealt with the people who were attached to those animals. It became clear that Dan had transferred all those feelings he had for Cassidy to the animals. He had also realized that no one ever made him feel the way he did about her. He had amazing strength of will to resist being with her for a short term fling knowing that he wanted her in his life permanently. I loved the way that he went after her at the end.

There is also still a good amount of tension in the family as they are still dealing with Brock's death. The truth about Winnie and the baby comes out and the family has to decide how to handle that also. I liked the way that everyone is watching Olive to make sure she behaves. There is also some minor setting up for the next book.

Finding what you truly want in your heart
By Kimberly
won this book on Goodreads.com, thank you C.J Carmichael for that. Her Cowboy Dilemma was an awesome book. Cassidy comes home after finishing school, she intends to relax and enjoy her time home at the ranch until she gets the call from the accounting job in Billings, but that doesn't happen horses get sick and are quarantined, so she tends to them. during the weeks she is tending to the sick horses she gets closer to Dan Farley Vet doctor, her brothers best friend and the guy she blew off four years ago. He was frosty at first towards her but starts to melt as the weeks go by. and oh we can not forget about Olive the very manipulative and controlling mother who can't keep out of her kids personal lives, she is one piece of work lol glad she ain't my mother. I can't believe what she did and at first doesn't own up to it, not nice. Some secrets are revealed but many more to learn about. Cassidy resist all matchmaking skills from her mother and the one time her brother Corb, his wife Laurel and her foster brother Jackson try one, she blew up after that because she is very determined to get that accounting job and she says that is what she wants but her heart wasn't in it. This book was bout Cassidy following her heart even if her mother was right lol. I loved this book, it was heartbreaking, sweet and romantic. I enjoyed reading Her Cowboy Dilemma I can not wait until Promise from a Cowboy in July and Cowboy Christmas in October. C.J Carmichael you are an awesome author.
